Legends of Marayoor began in 2020 as a simple idea between two childhood friends — Ajay and Ayyanar — who grew up in the misty highlands around Marayoor, Idukki district. They watched countless tour groups rush through the valley without truly experiencing its magic, and they knew they could do better.
Armed with intimate local knowledge, a single jeep, and the kind of warmth only a home village can teach, they started guiding small groups through sandalwood forests, Dolmen sites, hidden waterfalls, and wildlife sanctuaries that no mainstream itinerary reaches.
Five years and thousands of happy guests later, Legends of Marayoor has grown into a full-service adventure travel company — but the founding ethos has never changed: take fewer groups, go deeper, come back changed.

Born and raised in Marayoor, Ajay has spent over a decade exploring every trail, viewpoint, and hidden corner of the Western Ghats. His encyclopaedic knowledge of local roads and off-road techniques makes every jeep safari an adventure you can't replicate elsewhere. Ajay's warmth and storytelling bring the land's legends alive.
Ayyanar
Co-founder & Wildlife Guide
Ayyanar's passion for wildlife started as a child watching elephants move through Chinnar. Today, as a certified naturalist, he guides guests through sanctuaries with an acute eye for flora and fauna that most visitors would walk past. His calm presence and deep ecological knowledge create safe, enriching encounters with nature.
